Explore links and create a genogram¶
The knowledge graph shows links between your material. A genogram represents people and explicitly recorded family relationships.
Before you begin¶
Two linked knowledge pages for the graph. For a genogram, enable Genograms and use fictional people while learning.
Steps¶
-
Open Graph after linking “Reading project” and “Source notes”. Search for one page, adjust the visible scope and open a node to return to its content.
-
For a family diagram, open Settings → Plugins → Genograms. Check the destination Vault and select Prepare tables. This creates or reuses the People and Relationships tables and a Genogram view.
-
Add fictional people “Alex” and “Sam” to People. Leave unknown dates empty; enter only the precision you know.
-
In Relationships, select the actual endpoint records and the relationship type. Names alone are not identifiers, so check the selected person when names repeat.
-
Open the Genogram view, choose a reference person and adjust ancestor and descendant depth. Search highlights a person; filters and explicit inclusions determine the visible network.
-
Review any validation issues. Complete draft relationships and correct invalid endpoints before relying on the diagram.
Expected result¶
The graph opens linked notes, and the genogram reflects only the family relationships you entered.
If something goes wrong¶
Parentage cycles and self-relations are rejected. A hidden relative may be outside the selected scope. Resolve references before deleting a person used by relationships; Gnosi does not invent replacement family links.
